Every child should have the opportunity to participate in sporting activities and be knowledgeable of the health dangers that face them. Sports provide children with confidence and the ability to be healthy in life. It has been noted that a child that participates in sports will be more successful in life and will be less prone to take to violent behaviour. This is the belief of the Right To Play organization.

Look after yourself, look after one another.

Right To Play is an organization which utilizes sport programs to encourage and develop healthy social, emotional and physical development within the worlds’ most disadvantaged children. The mission of Right To Play is to improve the lives and well being of these disadvantaged children. Right To Play is built on the belief that providing children with the opportunity to participate in sports will lead to the children being healthier and the communities they live in to be safer.

One of the children Right To Play supports is a 10 year old girl in Mozambique named Martina. Where Martina lives, sporting events are usually only open to boys. Other than one day at school, the opportunity of participating in sports isn’t available to her. On April 7th of 2004, Right To Play celebrated Women’s Day by organizing a one day event in Mozambique that was open to girls only. On this day Martina was able to play basketball and volleyball, and was even able to try long jumping and sprinting. On this day they even featured a popular Mozambique television star who talked to the girls about the dangers of HIV and AIDS. She also had the opportunity to listen to a reading from the first Olympic gold medalist from Mozambique who grew up in the same place as Martina.

Martina looks back on this day with so much happiness and motivation. She has a healthier and happier vision of her future. This is the effect Right To Play would like to have on all of the worlds’ disadvantaged children. In order to provide this for all children, Right To Play looks to the public for support. The organization would appreciate any donations that you can make.

As a thank you for your contributions, we are granting donors points that work as a rebate on any purchases of sports equipment you make. Each time you contribute, you will receive an email thanking you for your contribution and informing you of your current point balance.

We hope that you realize the importance of your effort and thank you for any way that you can help these children. If you wish to receive more information on the organization and ways that you can help, simply contact the organization by mail or at our website at www.righttoplay.com and we will be pleased to provide you with any information you request.

Thank you once again and we look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Sincerely,
